How many hours do you spend checking up on your link partners to make sure they:
a) Still link to you?
b) Have not put hundreds of other links on their links page making the link to your site next to useless?
c) Have not been penalized by Google and PR 0'd which would mean Google would in turn penalize you for linking to a bad neighborhood?
If you answered "No time at all because I don't bother with link partners", then don't expect good search engine rankings.
If you answered "Not much as I don't check up on my link partners very often - it is too much hassle", then you should worry. To rank well in Google you need to make sure you are not linking to any penalized sites - the so-called "bad neighborhood" sites.
If you answered "Hours every month - it is so tedious", then I have the perfect solution for you and it is called Link Proctor.
Link Proctor allows you to check up on your link partners (as well as find new link partners by looking at who is linking to your competitors) by just typing in the URL(s) of your own links page. Link Proctor then goes away and checks all external links on that page and spiders those sites (as a search engine spider would), to see if it can find links back to your site.
Link Proctor reports back:
- the page the link was found on (if at all)
- The page title of the page linking to you
- The anchor text of your link on their pages (does it have your keywords in there?)
- how many other links are on that page (great info since you don't want to be on a page with 100 other links - search engines might think you are on a link farm)
- the PR of the page your link is on. This last point makes Link Proctor worth every cent. If your link is on a PR 0 site, that site may have been penalized by Google. If they have been penalized, so will you if you link to them.
One of the great things about this product is that you can watch the Link Proctor spider at work, delving deeper and deeper into a partners site. I noticed that on a couple of my own link partners sites, Link Proctor had searched several hundred pages and still not found my link. If my link was there, it was buried very deep in the partners site. If this was the case, how on earth would a search engine spider find my link on that site? Let's face it, if a search engine spider cannot find the link, what is the point of having it there because a human visitor to that site would probably never find it either.
Link Proctor is a great tool for all serious webmasters. Take control of your linking strategies and weed out the dead wood. Replace them with new link partners that you can find by spidering one of your competitors links pages.
Great Tool. My advice is buy it now.
